Responsibilities
Deliver design solutions for components, complex assemblies, and engines considering safety, manufacturing, robustness, unit/lifecycle cost, weight, maintainability, repair
Deliver definitions to stakeholders (manufacturing, customers, airframers, partners, analysis) via Model Based Definition/Environment
Create/use automated toolsets and workflows for repeatable designs with house style, standards
Eliminate non-conformances/zero defects via manufacturing capability analysis, lean principles, standardization, Robust Design, Systems Engineering, Risk Management (xFMEA), Design in Context
Quality assurance: check designs per RRMS; proactive zero defects
Perform analyses (formula-based/automated) for dimensioning (stability, stiffness, profiles, balance, weights)
NB in Nuclear: CAD team not responsible for analyses
Create technical documents per policies
Enable Supply Chain Design/lifecycle profitability (non-conformance management, drawing alterations, repairs, manuals, technical variants)
Plan/manage external designs via providers/suppliers; approve designs/documents
Manage product configuration/data integrity
Execute sub-system integration using Systems Engineering/Robust Design
Qualification
Required
Mid-level (minimum 5 years experience, preferably in gas turbines)
Aerospace/automotive industries; turbine blade/vane experience required
Ideal: direct turbine blade/vane design or analysis experience
Familiar with manufacturing processes, Teamcenter, NX, Ansys; support non-conformances
Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Strong mechanical design knowledge; understanding of manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal/mechanical analysis, cost engineering, product definition
Logical, analytical, innovative thinking; balanced technical/business decisions
Knowledge of product integrity/liability/certification frameworks
Good communication/presentation skills at all levels
