Senior Data Engineer

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize data ingestion, pipelines, and databases following best practices
Ensure that data is accessible, reliable and optimized for stakeholder analysis and reporting
Integrate internal and external data sources to centralize repositories
Design repeatable processes that will cleanse and transform data into useful insights to generate positive business outcomes
Work on agile delivery teams that release production ready data products for Commercial Lines Product team
Identifies, designs, and implements internal process improvements including automating manual data acquisition and optimizing data delivery
Integrates new data management technologies into existing data structures
Develops complex set processes to prepare data for analysis, predictive modeling, and research
Develops complex programs to extract and manipulate analytical and research data. Includes data from both internal and external sources
Creates tools for data team members that assist them in research and analysis
Works with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
Collaborates closely with business and IT partners to ensure data management technologies are designed and implemented as intended
Assists in training and development of less experienced staff, including those new to role. Serves as a resource to other section Employees and within the data community
Completes special projects as required

Required

Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field plus three years' related experience; or
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field plus four years' related experience; or
Associate's degree in technical field, plus six years' related experience; or
High school diploma plus eight years' related experience, required
3-4 years of professional experience in the items below highly preferred
Design, develop, and optimize data ingestion, pipelines, and databases following best practices

Preferred

Experience working with property and casualty insurance information
Experience with the following tools: Ingestion: Python, SQL
Data Analysis & Visualization: SAS, QLIK
Familiarity with: Data processing: Athena, Redshift, Snowflake
Data orchestration
Star schema
Security, Privacy, and regulations
Code repositories in Github
Data governance including measured data quality, critical data elements, business glossaries, data lineage, etc
Working within an agile framework using JIRA
