Sr. Work Control Planner

Responsibilities

Maintain safety and security as a primary responsibility; ensure compliance with all Laboratory safety and security requirements
Complete required safety and security training and integrate safety into every task, including stopping work if unsafe or if security is compromised
Prepare, review, and issue equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and preventative maintenance work packages for unique and/or complex facilities in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations
Analyze time and material requirements for complex work activities
Develop detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates
Lead development of step-by-step work instructions for complex activities
Manage and expedite prioritized work packages
Prepare and/or review detailed isolation, containment, or de-energization instructions for mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical, and/or radiological systems
Manage functional and administrative activities associated with work control, including:
Permit development
Testing requirements
Documentation generation
Records management
Database management and retrieval
Training coordination
Ensure compliance with Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance related to work control and planning
Verify that work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet established quality standards
Foster a respectful, inclusive work environment free from discrimination and harassment

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience
Must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed
Extensive knowledge and experience in complex work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance
Thorough understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configurations, and Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) policies and procedures
Strong ability to interpret complex mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics
Proficiency in utilizing computerized work management systems for planning and tracking activities
Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate alternative solutions, and recommend resolutions for complex work control issues
Ability to conceptualize and communicate key work control elements to both technical and non-technical personnel
Exceptional skills in preparing and presenting work control reports
Extensive knowledge of Laboratory work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures
Strong understanding of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning
