Program Manager - Head & Neck Surgery

Responsibilities

Work with department and designated faculty outside the Department to develop and write integrated research-supporting and regulatory documents for single and multi-investigator external and internal grant applications
Facilitate in the development, preparation and coordination of comprehensive research, administrative and regulatory documents, such as but not limited to research protocols, annual progress reports for sponsors, scientific presentations, manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and review processes
Provide pre- and post-award management of project-specific assigned grant(s), contract(s), and/or programmatic grant activities. Oversee post-award research administration activities in collaboration with the GPM, including initial planning, budget preparation and justification, budget review, regulatory and compliance monitoring, and grant closeout activities
Serve as liaison between investigators, institutional officials, and granting agency officials
Serve as liaison between laboratory and institutional administrative offices
Assist with developing strategies for securing funding (federal, philanthropic, or otherwise), and support the application process for that funding
Monitor progress of active research projects, develop and maintain comprehensive tracking systems for all active research projects and conduct regular progress assessments
Independently perform project analyses, evaluate resources, outcomes, and obstacles to project completion, and provide scientific input and feedback and resources optimization recommendations to Principal Investigator and laboratory members on research projects
Ensure strategic and tactical plans for research activities are developed and executed effectively and efficiently
Orchestrate internal and external collaborations and partnership activities. Organize scientific activities such as but not limited to scientific advisory boards, planning committees, and program retreats, etc. as needed
Participate in departmental and institutional related committees/meetings as specified by the Principal Investigator
Develop and maintain laboratory-specific standard operating procedures for research protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Independently design and implement laboratory operations and workflow optimization recommendations
Organize and lead laboratory meetings, seminars, and scientific presentations
Track and monitor Principal Investigator's research funds and fund allocation across multiple grant projects/components and report appropriately, in collaboration with GPM and Finance Teams
Conduct systematic budget reviews and recommend budget allocation modifications that align with research priorities and programmatic goals, in conjunction with designated Principal Investigator(s). Facilitate formal reviews and audits of departmental and external funded research projects
Serve as point of contact for laboratory staff, including research associates, technicians, and students
Mentor and train laboratory personnel on research protocols, procedures, and professional development opportunities
Support career development of trainees and junior researchers through mentoring and guidance

Required

Bachelor's Degree
5 years Related experience to include three years program management or 3 years Experience required with Master's degree. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis
