Senior Data Platform Engineer
United Community is seeking an experienced Senior Data Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Snowflake operations to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of their enterprise data environment. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, automation, and integration across data platforms, serving as the go-to expert for Snowflake administration and performance optimization while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Define and implement Snowflake operational standards and best practices
Act as the primary Snowflake SME for architecture, security, and performance
Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance
Oversee account configuration, role hierarchy, and security policies
Whether API integrations, storage integrations, External access integrations, or native apps, this role will be key in establishing and maintaining these
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness
Conduct deep-dive performance analysis and implement tuning strategies
Monitor credit usage with budgets for usage trends and proactively manage warehouse scaling and credits
Manage multi-cluster warehouses and optimize compute resources for cost efficiency
Design and implement automation for provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance tasks
Integrate Snowflake with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code frameworks
Participate in adhering to data governance, tagging, and retention policies
Support audits and compliance reporting for regulatory requirements
Partner with data engineering, analytics, and security teams to align Snowflake operations with business goals
Provide guidance on query optimization and workload management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent education experience can be substituted
8-years minimum number of years of experience candidate must have to be successful in the role
5+ years of experience in Snowflake administration and operations
Expert-level SQL and deep understanding of Snowflake architecture
Strong knowledge of RBAC, security, and compliance frameworks
Experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration strategies
Able to work onsite at the bank's headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina
Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check
This is a full-time, non-remote position
Preferred
Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation
Familiarity with Azure and DevOps practices
Experience with monitoring tools and cost optimization strategies
Snowflake certifications including Snowflake SnowPro certification and badges
