Ordnance Technician A, Missile Launcher Tech

Responsibilities

Maintains the PMRF Launch Control Sequencer and Missile Target Systems
Must be able to understand the system integration for launch sequence operation, testing, and program modification for a variety of missile target ground launchers, and the incorporation of new launchers and platforms into the PMRF launch systems
Performs the assembly and testing of missile systems electronics and sub-assemblies
Assists in assembly and testing of AQM-37 aerial targets and maintain the required equipment and tools
Provides technical support and assistance to targets specialists, missiles specialists, and engineers
Reads and understands system and functional schematics and diagrams for system troubleshooting and testing
Assists the Launch Control Officer in launcher remote control operations and in the evaluation of launcher functions
Assists in the integration and testing, of new missile systems introduced into the PMRF missile/target suite
Properly maintain missile/launcher loading and testing equipment
Performs missile/target testing and configuration for launching
Handles and assembles missiles, drones, launchers, and other ordnance-handling equipment
Performs booster and vehicle section mating, stabilizer, canards, and fin alignment
Performs preventative, corrective, and corrosive maintenance of launch systems
Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on all chemicals used and stored
Perform post-operation flushing and maintenance of torpedoes, targets, training vehicles and other exercise weapons in accordance with current methods and procedures
Handle, transport, and store ordnance/explosives and inert items per navy guidelines
Inspect and perform personal protective equipment (PPE) maintenance
Operate Cat 1/2/3 cranes and perform as crane rigger-in-charge and rigger
Assist in the safe download of hazardous waste stored in portable tanks into approved 55-gallon drums
Inspect serviceability of fire extinguishers and eyewash stations as required
Ensure torpedo flushing facility is cleaned at all times when not in use
Performs missile/targets logistics transports, shipment packaging, equipment operation, aircraft loading/unloading, and housekeeping of facilities
Handles ammunition and explosives within and between magazines and other ordnance storage areas
Performs other duties as required

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
AS/BS Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited College/University or Certificate in Advanced Systems Electronics for Fire Control Techs (FT)
Possess a valid State of Hawaii Driver's License
Must be able to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL)
Must be able to obtain licenses for the operation of ordnance-handling equipment, including cranes, k-loaders, forklifts, man-lifts, tractor-trailers, and other related equipment
Must be able to obtain the 40-hour hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER) training course
Must be able to obtain a locally issued explosive driver's license and explosive-ordnance handling qualification certifications
Must be able to obtain the 8-hour Basics of Naval Explosives Hazardous Control (Ammo-18) online course
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of satisfactory progressive experience with applicable electronics background being current to within one year
Must be able to perform all tasks with verbal and written instructions
Requires working knowledge of maintenance and testing of digital and analog electronic circuits as well as knowledge and skill in computer architecture, hardware integration, and operating systems
Must be skilled and knowledgeable in electronic testing instrumentation and equipment
Must be able to understand program logic and missile/launch sequencer interface operation
Must be able to understand and acquire skill launch system integration and testing techniques and procedures
Must demonstrate knowledge of explosive theory and safety criteria through on-the-job performance and written examinations as required
Understand explosives theory and missile/target activation systems
Working knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems for missile launch operations
Qualification in missile/target electronics installation, repair, troubleshoot, and testing
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have an active Secret clearance
