Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day construction and inspection activities for railroad projects, ensuring contractor adherence to project goals, including cost, schedule, and quality
Provide leadership and direction to construction inspection staff, ensuring timely and accurate daily inspection reports
Act as a liaison between contractors, design staff, and stakeholders to address RFIs and review shop drawings
Conduct technical reviews of construction plans, specifications, and project modifications for constructability and practicality
Manage the contractor payment process, recommending adjustments as needed to maintain budgetary control
Ensure site safety compliance and coordination with stakeholders, including local agencies and clients
Monitor contractor performance and resolve issues related to schedule, quality, or other project challenges
Prepare and submit detailed reports, correspondence, and other deliverables as required by the client
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
8+ years in Resident Engineering and inspection, preferably on NYDOT, MTA, MNR, Amtrak, or LIRR projects (or similar)
Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York, or ability to obtain within 12 months
Knowledge of New York state-specific regulations and construction practices
Preferred
CCM or NICET IV certification is a plus
Familiarity with transportation and railroad construction and maintenance standards, including NYDOT, FRA, MNR, Amtrak, LIRR, MTA, freight and short-line railroad specifications, preferred
