Power Electronics Design Engineer
OptiGrid is focused on revolutionizing electrification and providing access to electric vehicle fast charging solutions. As a Power Electronics Design Engineer, you will design and test power conversion systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to innovate in the energy sector.
Responsibilities
Design, develop and test high-power DC-DC converters, inverters, and chargers for EV applications (typically 400V–1000V systems)
Perform circuit simulations (SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink) for converter topologies and industrial control systems
Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts for multilayer boards with high-voltage isolation and EMI/EMC compliance requirements
Develop control strategies for power converters (e.g., current-mode control, digital control loops)
Validate designs through bench and field testing, thermal analysis
Support manufacturing, testing, and debugging through the full product lifecycle
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, or related field
3+ years of hands-on experience designing high voltage/high current electronic power systems (preferably in automotive or industrial sectors)
Strong understanding of power conversion topologies (e.g., buck, boost, LLC, phase-shifted full bridge)
Experience with wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC/GaN) and high-frequency magnetics
Proficiency in simulation and design tools: LTspice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, Altium/Eagle/OrCAD
Familiarity with EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques
