The Surgical Simulation Lab Technician's primary responsibility is to support lab activities, maintain the lab environment, and assist with medical procedures and animal care.

Responsibilities
Follows application/curriculum in preparation for lab activities
Assures all instruments, supplies and equipment are available and in working order and anticipate additional needs
Operates basic lab equipment and performs basic problem solving
At the completion of lab activities, processes instruments and returns equipment and unused supplies to appropriate storage locations
Inventories and orders supplies as needed
Monitors O2 and CO2 gas usage and orders and replaces tanks as needed
Maintains overall organization and cleanliness of the lab space
Follows chain of custody protocol when receiving/returning cadaveric specimens
Assists with pre-anesthesia preparations, intubation and IV start
Calculates and administers medications
Assists with monitoring the animal model throughout the procedure
Maintains basic knowledge of the GCSI animal Care Protocol
Maintains accurate records of animal care
Performs other duties as requested by the Surgical Simulation Manager
Qualification
Required
High School Required
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Outgoing, courteous manner to interact effectively with a wide variety of hospital and public individuals
Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Apple computers
Preferred
Bachelors Degree Preferred
Prior research or medical training preferred
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Experience handling animals
Familiarity with surgical equipment and supplies
