Responsibilities
Architect for Scale: Design and develop backend systems capable of processing billions of transactions across 1000+ integrations
Performance Engineering: Refactor and modernize core Ruby systems to improve maintainability and execution speed
Technical Leadership: Provide direction across projects, collaborating with product leads to define architecture and priorities
Full Ownership: Own the delivery lifecycle: from initial design to production reliability and performance monitoring
Raise the Bar: Mentor the team through technical reviews, architectural RFCs, and high-quality documentation
Qualification
Required
8+ years of backend experience, with significant time spent scaling Ruby on Rails applications
At least 2 years in a Senior or Lead capacity influencing cross-team initiatives
A strong understanding of data flows, software design principles, and system bottlenecks
You thrive in a remote, written-first environment and value deep work over constant meetings
Preferred
Expertise in tuning PostgreSQL
Building data ingestion pipelines
A background in Fintech/TaxTech
