Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to operational (production) readiness practices for assigned products and services
Set and manage service-level objectives (SLOs) that define product or service availability; exercise decision rights of the SRE role including supporting releases to production, rejecting operationally sub-standard software, and directing developers to improve code
Implement observability requirements to monitor systems so that expected service levels and operational characteristics are met
Focus on reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement of production computing infrastructure, including highly complex and scalable systems
Develop observability standards to ensure production systems operate under known conditions and provide transparent measurements to anticipate errors or failures
Lead post-mortem reviews to engineer solutions that prevent problem recurrence
Anticipate internal and external business challenges and help teams find solutions through continuous process and technology improvements
Lead interactions with governance and control groups (e.g., regulatory operational risk, compliance, audit) and provide subject-matter expertise on engineering technology and tools
Contribute to cross-functional enterprise initiatives as a subject-matter expert, identifying risks and providing guidance for significant and complex situations
Proactively identify emerging technologies and innovative solutions to build more robust platform domains; stay abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
Protect organizational interests by identifying and managing risks and escalating non-standard or high-risk activities as necessary
Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes aligned with risk appetite
