RF Engineer

Widelity is a U.S. founded communications company seeking an experienced RF Engineer to enhance their telecommunications infrastructure and wireless technology innovations. The RF Engineer will be responsible for site design, troubleshooting, and optimizing RF systems while collaborating with various teams to ensure network performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

LTE and/or Wimax site design. Participate in the search ring process and assist in the selection of cell sites that are RF-optimum. Work closely with market project managers during site selection and acquisition processes
Work closely with outsourced vendors to support RF services in new markets (backhaul, RF sweeps/clearing and RF coverage). Conduct detailed design reviews and market audits to ensure that all network objectives are fulfilled for microwave backhaul and RF coverage
Train local market field techs to ensure that RF drive testing is done correctly. Analyze test results and work closely with RF planner to optimize network and prop models
Assist in commissioning and field teams during site construction and commissioning
Test and troubleshoot RF systems and backhaul issues. Work with NOC/Tier 3 and equipment suppliers to resolve product defects
Troubleshoot RF coverage issues in the market, including RF audits of PreQual predictions, known coverage-holes, etc
When spurious interference is encountered in a market, spearhead swat team to measure, track and identify sources of interference
Assist in evaluating fill-in sites for market expansion
Monitor performance statistics relating to the RF and Backhaul capacity for LTE/Wimax and backhaul network; analyze trend data, propose solutions
Monitor network performance statistics to maintain target Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by LTE parameter and hardware modifications

Required

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus three (3) years RF network design experience, including three (3) years' experience in RF/microwave experience with a wireless service provider
RF planning process and use of propagation and design tools – possibly Planet, Overture, Wizard, or AToll
RF instrumentation and tools
RF systems engineering knowledge and analytical skills
Work at cell sites: installation, verification and RF optimization
Proficiency with Software tools like MS Office, SQL databases, GIS software (MapInfo, Google earth, Bing Maps)
Programming experience with VB Script or Java
Will also accept Bachelor's Degree in other engineering disciplines if there is 5 years' experience in working with RF capabilities
Experience with LTE–Windcatcher
Experience with LTE, Xstream, Windcatcher
Experience with 802.16e standards & protocols
