Responsibilities

Contribute to industrial research projects focused on AI and computer vision for various applications, such as visual inspection, predictive maintenance, and autonomous systems
Develop and implement AI models, including deep learning architectures, for image and video analysis in industrial settings
Work with real-world industrial datasets, including multi-modal data, to train, validate, and deploy AI solutions
Explore and experiment with different AI paradigms, from traditional machine learning to agentic systems and Large Language Models (LLMs), for industrial use cases
Collaborate and exchange ideas with experts in AI, computer vision, and industrial automation across Siemens research and business units

Required

MS or PhD student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
Programming proficiency in Python — including experience writing clean, modular, reusable code and working with AI/ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
Foundational knowledge of modern AI systems architectures and deployment strategies for industrial applications
Hands-on experience working with real-world data, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model training
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
Legally residing in the United States of America and hold a valid work permit for the US

Preferred

Practical experience in computer vision, including object detection, segmentation, classification, or anomaly detection
Familiarity with agentic systems, reinforcement learning, or the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) in industrial contexts
Experience with multi-modal data processing and fusion (e.g., combining visual data with sensor data)
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for AI model deployment and MLOps
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols or embedded systems for edge AI deployments
Experience with software development best practices: version control (Git), unit testing (pytest), and technical documentation
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic, interdisciplinary team of experts across AI, computer vision, and industrial engineering
