Responsibilities
Design automated sortation, package stacking into containers, and movement solutions that integrate with upstream and downstream systems to meet throughput requirements and Amazon design standards
Analyze operational and financial metrics to inform design decisions and feature prioritization
Partner with systems engineering and operations teams to optimize deployed solution performance
Lead multiple concurrent projects while coordinating with internal teams, external partners, contractors, and vendors
Build simulation models and conduct throughput analyses to validate solution feasibility and solve complex integration challenges and tradeoffs
Drive technical design projects from concept through implementation, understanding system-of-systems interactions across robotics, MHE, and facility infrastructure
Define solution requirements and drive them to product teams, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical capabilities
Collaborate with global stakeholders through all design phases from initial design and systems integration through construction and startup
Work with product management and systems engineering to develop next-generation features that enhance solution performance
Travel up to 15% to sites in the US, Canada, and EU
Qualification
Required
5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
Experience with design & innovation and research & development
Experience in management of engineering design projects
Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing
Preferred
5+ years of specialty (with progressive responsibility) experience
Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
Experience modeling or simulating large-scale, high-volume distribution centers
Experience with design-in-safety
