Transmission Line Engineer

Asplundh Engineering Services is seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to join their team in Northeast, preferably in DE, MD, VA area. In this role, you will apply advanced engineering tools to support projects that strengthen critical infrastructure in the power grid.

Responsibilities

Develop PLS‑CADD and PLS‑Pole models for both new and existing transmission line designs; experience with PLS‑Tower is a plus
Conduct site visits for line inventory, hard‑spot identification, and construction coordination
Prepare existing line studies, project cost estimates, material and pole orders, construction bid packages, engineering drawings, and as‑built documentation
Collaborate with construction, environmental, real estate, permitting, and geotechnical teams; foundational design exposure is beneficial
Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships through consistent and professional communication
Provide technical guidance, perform design reviews, and support quality control across project deliverables
Assist in proposal development, including cost estimating, scope definition, and scheduling contributions
Work closely with other Power Delivery disciplines such as civil/structural, distribution, and substation engineering

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
Proficiency with PLS software, including PLS‑CADD
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven commitment to safety and customer service
Valid driver's license and ability to enter transmission ROWs and construction sites with appropriate PPE
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred

Minimum 3+ years of transmission line design engineering experience
Prior U.S. utility experience or consultant preferable
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); CAD/drafting experience is a plus
Candidates with an E.I.T. or P.E. are encouraged to apply, though it is not required
