Responsibilities

Compile industry, market and asset level data and financial information to support research
Build and leverage relationships with industry participants and management teams
Perform fundamental research and present research ideas to broader group
Perform due diligence on opportunities, including financial, company and sector diligence, to determine investment merits and risks
Develop company financial models and perform valuation analyses; apply statistical analysis to support investment decisions
Participate in evaluation, including sharing views on overall investment attractiveness based on findings from diligence work
Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry overviews, written investment rationales and due diligence reviews
Participate in presentation of investment recommendations to the Investment Committee and Board as required
Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of existing portfolios
Support transition of new assets into CPPIB portfolio by identifying benchmarks, building financial models and providing rigorous project management support

Required

Undergraduate degree or college diploma in relevant field
3-5 years of relevant work experience
Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively
Experience working in deal environments including supporting acquisitions, diligence and/or asset management activities
Advanced computer/technical skills – MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
Solid verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

An advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset
