Responsibilities
Build and lead a multi-disciplinary engineering organization from first principles, including mechanical, electrical, materials/chemical, embedded software, robotics, and vision systems
Lead development of FDA-regulated medical devices and drug-device combination products, ensuring alignment with design controls, risk management, and global regulatory requirements
Architect and develop edge IoT medical devices with:
Embedded AI/ML capabilities
Multi-sensor integration (vision, audio, physiological signals)
Secure connectivity from edge → mobile → private cloud (VPC)
Establish a computational-first engineering paradigm using modeling, simulation, and digital twins to drive early design decisions, performance optimization, and reliability
Lead development and validation of product and manufacturing digital twins across:
Product performance and environmental interactions (e.g., stability, durability)
Manufacturing systems, throughput, and quality performance
Multiphysics modeling
Drive concurrent product and manufacturing system development, including:
AI-enabled robotics and automation
Scalable assembly systems for combination products
Design and deploy vision-based quality control systems, including:
Inline inspection and defect detection
Real-time quality monitoring and release (PAT-driven approaches)
Integration of edge vision systems into manufacturing workflows
Integrate Agentic AI and Generative AI into engineering workflows to accelerate design, simulation, testing, and documentation
Partner cross-functionally with clinical, regulatory, platform, and quality teams to ensure tight coupling between clinical intent and engineering execution
Qualification
Required
15+ years' experience leading engineering in a regulated medical device or combination product environment
Proven ability to build and scale multi-disciplinary engineering teams in complex system environments
Deep experience in edge/IoT device development, embedded systems, and hardware–software integration
Experience with machine vision systems (product or manufacturing environments)
Strong foundation in risk management, design controls, and regulatory submissions
Experience with computational modeling, simulation, or digital twin approaches
Exposure to advanced manufacturing systems, robotics, or automation
Builder mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a greenfield, high-ambiguity environment
