Family Court Attorney - Kapolei, Oahu
The Hawai`i State Judiciary is seeking a Family Court Attorney to provide legal advice and draft policies for the Family Court system. This role involves supervising legal research, assisting judges, and coordinating legislative efforts related to family law.

Responsibilities
Serves as a legal advisor to the Board of Senior Family Court Judges and Directors in matters needing legal clarification
Responsible for drafting policies and procedures for judges and staff at the direction of the First Circuit Senior Family Court Judge or designee
Responsible for drafting policies and procedures to implement Acts which impact the Family Courts
Drafting legal forms necessary to implement legislation and policies
Provides general supervision over the Legal Research Unit
Assists with revising and updating the Hawaii Family Court Rules
Serves as the First Circuit Family Court Custodian of Records
Assists the Board of Senior Family Court Judges and Directors in keeping the statewide policies and procedures consistent
Renders legal research assistance to the Family Court judges and administrative staff statewide
Drafts legal opinions and memoranda
Responsible for coordinating legislative efforts for the Family Courts statewide
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Graduation from an accredited school of law
One (1) year of work experience in the satisfactory performance of duties in one or more of the following areas (or the equivalent): 1) Legal research and writing; 2) litigation; 3) review of and drafting of legislation; 4) review of new laws for impact of court requirements; 5) development of policies, procedures, and legal forms to implement new laws
One (1) year of experience in a family court setting or litigating in family court proceedings that includes familiarity with and understanding of issues relating to family court processes and procedures
Knowledge of various court rules, policies and procedures, as well as responsibility for managing confidential, complex, jurisdictional, and controversial issues
Applicants must possess an active license to practice law in all courts of the State of Hawaii
