Assistant Teaching Professor in Landscape Architecture

The University of Rhode Island is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor in Landscape Architecture to start in Fall 2026. Responsibilities

Teach a full instructional load (12 credits or the equivalent, as needed) of core landscape architecture courses per semester
Provide undergraduate advising within the landscape architecture program
Implement inclusive, evidence-based teaching and learning approaches to ensure the academic success of a diverse student population
Participate in outreach activities and departmental efforts to support the strategic plans of the institution and the College of the Environment and Life Sciences

Required

BLA or MLA accredited professional degree obtained at time of starting employment
A relevant master's degree (MLA or other) or equivalent professional experience leading to landscape architecture licensure
Evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate landscape architecture courses
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups and populations
Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English
Commitment to engaging in professional service and outreach, demonstrated by participation in committees, organizations, or other activities
Demonstrated skills in design and technology

Preferred

PhD in a related field such as Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or Planning
Demonstrated ability to teach a wide range of landscape architecture classes, such as CAD, construction, surveying, graphics, design, and sustainability
Professional experience in landscape architecture and/or planning; eligibility or progress toward professional licensure (RLA, RA, AICP) or other certifications
Evidence of mentoring undergraduate students
Knowledge of and/or experience with community-based organizations or Cooperative Extension programs
Demonstrated ability to work as a team and/or in a complex academic environment
