Responsibilities
Determines the acceptability of new group risk. Generates proposals
Completes pre-reviews on new groups and rate reviews on renewals. May process and complete ERISA reporting
Trains and advises less experienced underwriters
Serves as a liaison to other departments concerning underwriting issues
Qualification
Required
Required Education: Bachelor's
Degree Equivalency: 4 years job related work experience or Associate's and 2 years job related work experience
Required Work Experience: 5 Years underwriting experience
Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent organizational, customer service, oral and written communication skills
Excellent mathematical, analytical and critical thinking skills
Good judgment
Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion
Proficient spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Extensive knowledge of underwriting and risk principles and their application
Required Software and Other Tools: Microsoft Office
Preferred
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree-Accounting, Finance, Business or Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
Preferred Work Experience: 7 Years-underwriting experience
Preferred Skills and Abilities: Insurance course work in FLMI, HIAA, or BCA
Preferred Software and Other Tools: Knowledge of database software and computer systems support
Prior Ugan experience
