Responsibilities
Responsible for the electrical engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff
Work with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities
Solar PV and BESS system design including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and utility interconnections for rooftop, carport, and ground mount (fixed tilt and single-axis tracking) systems
Solar PV and BESS system energy production modelling
Developing construction and equipment specifications
Engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnect requirements, voltage drop, and conduit sizing)
Engineering development and support of construction drawing developments – one lines, network diagrams, etc
PV and BESS system cost estimation and payback evaluations
DC and low to medium voltage power distribution design
Supporting projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning
Participating in and presenting at meetings including those requiring occasional travel
Qualification
Required
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or Engineering related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Demonstrated experience in design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems
Preferred
Current professional engineering license (PE) and ability to attain additional states by comity
8+ years of relevant experience preferred
Proficient in industry software such as Homer, NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, and Helioscope
MV AC Collection System Design Experience
Protection and Controls Experience
Knowledgeable in power system modeling in ETAP and/or SKM
Strong familiarity with the NEC, as well as related codes such as IBC and NFPA 855
Familiarity with utility practices, industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, PIP etc.)
Strong written and verbal skills with an ability to lead engineering tasks
Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish
Capable of system financial estimation (Capex, Opex), PPA recommendation and calculating ROI
Special design experience: floating PV, fuel cells, agrivoltaics, super capacitors, etc
Field construction and commissioning experience
