Responsibilities
Lead requirements elicitation and analysis for Development Operations and Clinical Operations reporting and analytics initiatives, with particular emphasis on defining operational metrics, KPI definitions, data sources, and reporting requirements upfront
Partner closely with Development Operations, Clinical Operations, portfolio management, and functional stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), operational decision-making needs, and insight gaps — then translate these into clear, prioritized reporting/analytics requirements
Initiate projects with a strong analytics-first mindset: identify the critical portfolio, study, site, study participant, milestone, resourcing, and risk questions the business needs answered, define target dashboards, reports, metrics, and data flows before detailed solutioning begins
Drive solution design that intentionally delivers both core business functionality and high-value, reliable reporting/analytics capabilities
Create detailed business requirements, user stories, process flows, data models, metric definitions, and analytics specifications that guide system configuration, data engineering, and PowerBI development work for Development Operations and Clinical Operations use cases
Serve as the primary advocate for analytics and reporting excellence within projects
Work with stakeholders to establish success criteria that include measurable improvements in insight availability, data accuracy, timeliness, usability, and adoption of clinical operations reports and dashboards
Collaborate closely with data engineering and PowerBI teams to ensure end-to-end data flows support the agreed analytics vision
Facilitate validation of reporting outputs during user acceptance testing (UAT) to confirm business and analytical requirements are fully met
Build strong partnerships with business leaders, portfolio managers, study teams, and functional teams to align priorities and ensure analytics/reporting needs are understood and championed
Develop and deliver training, user guides, and communication plans to drive adoption of new/enhanced reporting capabilities and system functionality
Support change management, UAT coordination, and post-implementation reviews focused on both operational success and realization of reporting/analytics benefits
Contribute to continuous improvement of Agile practices, portfolio management utilization, and overall analytics maturity within the Strategic Portfolio and Project Management team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Social/Physical/Life Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Project Management, Business, or related field
Minimum three (3) years' experience in data analytics
4–6+ years of experience in business analysis, with at least 2 years in a role with significant focus on Development Operations, Clinical Operations, R&D portfolio reporting, analytics, and/or business intelligence
Demonstrated experience defining and driving analytics/reporting requirements from project inception through delivery
Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and proficiency with Azure DevOps
Experience working with data engineering teams, clinical operations data sources, data lakes, and visualization tools (PowerBI highly preferred)
Excellent requirements elicitation, analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and communication skills
Strong business acumen with a natural orientation toward data-driven insights and measurable business outcomes
Proactive, organized, and able to manage complexity across multiple stakeholders and technical teams
Excellent communicator who can translate complex analytics/reporting needs into clear requirements and vice versa
Preferred
Certifications: CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMP, Agile/Scrum (CSM/PSM), or BI-related certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate)
Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated R&D environments, with emphasis on Development Operations, Clinical Operations, clinical trial execution, or study delivery reporting
Familiarity with data modeling, ETL concepts, and dashboard/report design principles
