Responsibilities

Supports branch and division customer service programs with resolving customer requests, issues, and problems.

Maintain liaison with agency accountants, budget analysts, and other FMS personnel to correct accounting problems.

Assists personnel with processing accounting transactions into the financial system.

Review accounting problems and trace specific accounting entries through various systems to ensure accuracy is maintained.

You must be a US Citizen or US National.

You must possess the Basic Requirements indicated below and Specialized Experience, or Education and/or Combination of Education and Specialized Experience to be considered eligible for this position.

Basic Requirements: Degree: accounting: or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.

Combination of Education and Experience: At least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.

The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.

A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination.

Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing.

Specialized Experience for GS-11 Position: One year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal Service or equivalent responsibility in the private sector/pay systems equipping you with the competencies to successfully perform as a Accountant Systems.

Such experience includes Applying conventional accounting principles and procedures in the review and analysis of accounting systems data.

Performing reconciliation of day-to-day accounts.

Assisting in the determination of required adjustments to accounting records and determining the accuracy of accounting transactions.

Recognizing trends or anomalies in accounting system transactions and recommending solutions to resolve issues.

Education for GS-11: 3 years of Progressively Higher-Level Graduate Education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or Equivalent Doctoral Degree.

Have an equivalent combination of successfully completed Specialized Experience and Higher-Level Graduate Education described above that makes up 100% of the qualifications required for the position.

Education must be reviewed and certified by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be creditable toward your qualifications.
