Responsibilities

Demonstrate competency in performing clerical duties and clinical support in line with UMROI's mission and values.
Assess and interpret patient data to meet specific care needs based on age, culture, and diagnosis.
Express compassion and courtesy towards patients and their families.
Assemble admission charts, file documents, and maintain unit communication board.
Respond to patient call lights and activate emergency response systems.
Coordinate transportation for clinic appointments and distribute patient mail.

Required

Completion of a high school level course of work with attainment of high school diploma or a State High School Equivalency (GED)
Six months of direct patient care experience in a health care facility preferred
Ability to organize work priorities, perform several duties simultaneously and function in stressful situations
Ability to learn and apply computer systems
Highly effective verbal communication skills including courtesy, resourcefulness and efficiency in answering questions, giving directions, locating staff and explaining hospital/departmental policies and procedures are necessary
Verbal communication skills may include communicating with an interdisciplinary team, patients, and families
Effective writing skills are also required in order to take messages and maintain miscellaneous records, receipts, reports and logs
