Responsibilities
Independently organizes and coordinates daily unit operations in Newark, and as needed for New Brunswick colleagues
Oversees the Newark operations of the department including providing coordination and administrative support to multiple tenure track, non-tenure track, full-time lecturers, part-time lecturers, and visiting scholars in their teaching, research, and service efforts
Provides knowledgeable and competent support to the Department Administrator Supervisor
Coordinates the administration of programs, projects, and/or processes
Prioritizes and daily unit operations, resolves conflicts and issues, prepares, and implements administrative guidelines and procedures, and provides oversight and facilitation
Provides routine and non-routine information and explanations to stakeholders
Creates informational materials
Provides general unit-supporting research, analysis, and proposal data
Prepares, processes, and controls records, statistics, reports, and documents
Performs fiscal support functions
Schedules appointments; arranges and coordinates design and logistics for events and meetings
Completes other work consistent with a broad understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the administrative, academic, and research units
Serves as a liaison within and outside the unit and needed
Works independently with few direct instructions
Carries out routine and non-routine tasks with occasional review of work outputs by supervisor
Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management principles and practices and a good understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of unit administration
Provides troubleshooting to keep the department running smoothly
Provides support to seminar guest speakers and recruitment candidates
Travel amongst regional campuses may be required

Required
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, work organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and/or report writing principles and practices.
Requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in an administrative function, excellent communication and customer service skills, and computer literacy.
