Responsibilities
Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team as they develop and implements SEP’s strategic plan
Assisting and supporting the creator selection process annually by providing reviews and feedback of submissions annually.
Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by SEP for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
Supporting approval of SEP’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the the organization’s Executive Team (primarily its CEO and CCO)
Assisting advisory board members in identifying and recruiting other Advisory Board Members
Partnering with the Executive Team and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
Representing SEP to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
Ensuring SEP commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities SEP serves
Considering SEP both an investment opportunity, and a philanthropic priority, with options to support SEP through annual gifts or investment in accordance with its dues
Making a commitment to attend and support SEP's annual fundraising campaigns and gala each year, as available pending their geographic location
Participating in peer reviews assessing their appointment every 2 years
Attending quarterly Advisory Board meetings and committee meetings held in coordination with full board meetings.

Required
Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in the film industry, business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
A commitment to and understanding of SEP’s beneficiaries, preferably based on experience
Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of SEP’s beneficiaries
A vested interest in making an impact in the worlds of social justice, equity, mental health, and beyond.
