Responsibilities
Provide design feedback to SPARC sub-system designs with a focus on manufacturing and assembly
Participate in both formal and informal design reviews to ensure what is delivered can be assembled
Scope an open-ended solution for a given problem from concepts, to tooling design, through testing, all the way to implementation
Design, analyze, draft, and manage fabrication for custom creative tooling solutions from start to finish, owning all aspects of the project along the way
Work with teammates in a collaborative fashion to receive feedback early and often to ensure all requirements are met. Many SPARC projects involve high loads, vacuum requirements, and complex manipulation requiring the involvement and review of adjacent subsystem experts
Serve as an extreme owner for a process by testing, implementing, and handing off to production technicians for repeated use for any given operation or tool(s)
Draft and release work planning instructions to clearly and concisely outline the planned work ahead
Support hands-on operations during Tokamak Assembly serving a variety of roles in the process

Required
Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering B.S
Participation in a High Engagement Non-Classroom Extracurricular Project
More than one 3-Month or Greater Hardware Engineering Internship
2-3 Years of Mechanical Engineering experience demonstrating project ownership
Preferred
3+ Years of Mechanical Engineering Experience demonstrating project ownership
Lifting Operations Experience
Knowledge of Welding & Capabilities (don’t need to be able to weld)
Experience with Carbon Steel Welded Constructions
Experience with Basic Joint Design (Double Shear, Single Shear, Bolted Patterns)
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
