Assistant Project Engineer (Geotechnical)

Responsibilities
Solve complex problems and calculations using engineering formulas and skills
Evaluate research by others and write reports
Assist in preparing proposal estimates and scheduling staffing requirements for field projects
Supervise and instruct field personnel on assigned projects
Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
Provide reports on project milestones and adjust schedules as needed
Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate with supporting organization managers
Coordinate project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages
Participate in technical activities and resolve design and test problems
Prepare and present changes for design, specifications, and reports for approval
Perform site inspections, conduct routine laboratory tests, and classify soils
Prepare geologic reports and maps, conduct environmental studies, and oversee drilling activities
Coordinate project activities with government agencies and seek new project opportunities

Required
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of field or related experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or have the ability to become licensed within 2 years of being in this position
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or have the ability to become licensed within 2 years of being in this position
ACI/NICET/NJ DCA Special Inspector and Nuclear Densometer certification a plus
Valid Driver’s License and possess reliable transportation to access job sites
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of solid geometry and trigonometry
Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Proficient or familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, NitroPro, GSLOPE, KeyWall, Rocscience, MS Word, Excel, Adobe
Position requires ability to use tools such as a lump hammer, shovel, hand auger, Nuclear Density Gauge
Preferred
Previous construction experience is preferred
