Responsibilities

Solves complex problems and calculations, using engineering formulas and skills
Evaluates research by others and writes reports
Assists the Project Engineer in the preparation of proposal estimates of time and expenses required to complete the project
Assists in scheduling staffing requirements for field projects
Supervises and instructs field personnel on assigned projects
Develops and maintains schedules and budgets for engineering projects
Provides reports on project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly
Controls expenditures within project budget limitations
Identifies project staffing requirements and coordinates staffing
Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages
Coordinates technical developments, scheduling, and resolves engineering design problems
Participates in technical activity integration
Evaluates and presents changes for design, specifications, drawing releases, reports, etc
Prepares project reports and status updates
Performs site inspections to monitor progress and conformance to specs
Designs portions of projects and makes calculations using engineering formulas
Instructs drafters on design finalization
Conducts geotechnical engineering laboratory checks and concrete/rebar inspection testing
Performs research, prepares samples for testing, and uses computers to solve engineering problems
Classifies soils, applies geological knowledge to construction projects, and prepares geologic reports and maps
Participates in environmental studies, directs drilling of exploratory borings and wells, and oversees installation of monitoring wells
Collects soil and groundwater samples, determines contamination extent, and plans research schedules
Supervises field work, establishes work plans, and coordinates project personnel
Confers with project staff, directs project activities, prepares project reports, and coordinates with regulatory agencies
Identifies new project opportunities and promotes company services
Travels up to 75% of the time which may be out of state

Required

Bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of field or related experience
LSRP license counts towards related experience
Ability to review and understand plans, specs, and reports including site, grading, utility, foundation, details, structural, drawings, architectural, grading, federal, state and local regulations
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
Valid Driver’s License and possess reliable transportation to access job sites
Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of solid geometry and trigonometry
Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Proficient or familiarity with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, NitroPro, GSLOPE, KeyWall, Rocscience, MS Word, Excel, Adobe
Position requires ability to use tools such as a lump hammer, shovel, hand auger, Nuclear Density Gauge

Preferred

Previous construction experience
Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) license
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or have the ability to become licensed within 2 years of being in this position
ACI/NICET/NJ DCA Special Inspector and Nuclear Densometer certification
