Responsibilities

Report to and work closely with the Director of Media Relations to implement media strategies aimed at increasing news stories focused on key tobacco control topics.
Draft high-quality communications materials including press releases, media memos, and pitches.
Assist in preparing spokespeople for interviews and drafting talking points.
Work with the Associate Director of Digital Strategy to create content for social media.
Serve as a liaison for the international communications team to global youth advocacy summits.
Coordinate media monitoring across priority countries and oversee contracts for communication tools.
Monitor tobacco industry marketing tactics and lead the development of the global tobacco control newsletter.
Receive and compile media monitoring reports, assist in planning training events, and provide reports on communications activities.
Collaborate with the website management team to generate content on tobacco control activities.
Manage an online resource hub on emerging tobacco products and produce the bi-monthly international communications snapshot.

Required

Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field required.
Up to two years of experience in communications, preferably in a policy or advocacy setting – this may include relevant internships.
Excellent writing and editing skills. Strong grasp of AP style.
Strong interest in media relations, news, and communications advocacy.
Interest in and understanding of social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, X and Facebook.
Team-player attitude and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness and desire to travel internationally.

Preferred

Experience working at the international level and in cross-cultural settings preferred.
Foreign language proficiency a plus.
