Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Development Team and staff to plan, organize, and execute fundraising events throughout the year aimed at generating funds for HFA’s programs.
Assist in identifying potential donors and sponsors for events, programs, and ongoing support.
Engage with community leaders, local businesses, and other potential partners to build awareness of HFA's mission and expand the network of supporters.
Contribute actively to committees/working groups focused on specific initiatives, such as governance, event planning, marketing, volunteer recruitment, or strategic planning.
Support the organization's advocacy efforts by sharing information about food insecurity issues and the importance of anti-hunger initiatives on social media and within personal networks.
Associate board members do not have a give/get, but are expected to collaborate with other board members to plan and execute fundraising events.
Attend board and committee meetings regularly and actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes.
Enthusiasm for learning about nonprofit development, management, and governance. Stay informed about best practices and industry trends, and bring new ideas and insights to the board to enhance the HFA's effectiveness.

Required
Strong passion for addressing hunger and food insecurity issues in New York City and nationwide.
Active in their community with strong peer network, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and potential donors; eager to fundraise in their social and professional circles.
A strong track record of volunteer experience (nonprofit or otherwise) and/or experience with nonprofits is required; prior board experience is a plus but not required.
Willingness to learn and actively participate in fundraising efforts is essential.
Preferred
Prior experience in fundraising and/or event planning is preferred but not mandatory.
Lived experience with hunger is a plus.
Proximity to New York City is a plus for in-person engagement, but not required.
