Associate Director – HVAC Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead or support project HVAC design efforts, providing compliant, innovative solutions that meet the business need.
Provide technical guidance to project teams for HVAC and mechanical utility systems during the project scoping and front-end planning stages.
Support major project design efforts and ensure deliverables produced on projects confirm to standards.
Collaborate with external partners to assure facility designs maintain compliance and are aligned with project business objectives.
Author and maintain HVAC engineering design standards, guidelines, practices, and position papers.
Provide technical support during start-up planning, commissioning, and qualification activities of HVAC systems on critical capital projects.
Troubleshoot HVAC issues, conduct project peer reviews, and develop knowledge of industry technology trends.
Interface with Global Quality, Global Safety & the Environment, HVAC equipment vendors, and participate in industry organizations.
Support and conduct field walk-downs during construction or troubleshooting on active capital projects.
Mentor and coach junior engineers, operate within cost and schedule constraints, and participate in professional organizations.

Required
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or applicable science degree is required.
A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in engineering of HVAC systems is required.
A strong working knowledge of HVAC and Mechanical Utility system design, engineering fundamentals, regulatory requirements, equipment sizing, specification and system troubleshooting.
Prior experience with engineering design of HVAC systems in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry
Knowledge and clear command of building and industry code application
Broad knowledge of building materials and construction techniques
Ability to generate drawing deliverables, project specification, facility User Requirement Specifications (URS), written design reports.
Preferred
Prior experience with startup and troubleshooting HVAC systems.
Experience with cold temperature units (CTU’s) and refrigeration systems
Competent leadership and teamwork skills.
Accomplished written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical abilities and solid base in engineering fundamentals.
Experience with capital projects that followed a stage gate capital management process.
Ability to travel, both domestic and international. Approximately 30% global travel is anticipated.
