Responsibilities

Create monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries, including payroll, healthcare, bank activity, student billing, and financial aid entries.
Coordinate with the external accounting support team to post journal entries and to update the general ledger as needed.
Review the general ledger monthly to ensure accuracy of financial records.
Prepare a monthly general ledger review and meet with the CFO to share the review and ensure financial records are accurate.
Ensure grant recording and grant spending are in alignment with grant agreements.
Coordinate with federal grant subrecipients to receive and review grant invoices quarterly and grant amendments annually.
Prepare and submit federal grant drawdowns monthly.
Prepare and finalize APR reporting, FSRS submissions, PAR forms, and other federal reporting requirements.
Collaborate with the development team to complete private grant reporting as needed.
Create quarterly financial statements.
Complete required financial aid reporting including IPEDS and Cal Grant IPA & 10% recertification.
Complete required IRS form reporting including 1099s and 1098-Ts.
Complete required accreditation financial reporting including WASC and CCTC.
Update vendor invoices with general ledger coding and submit invoices in the accounts payable system.
Coordinate with the external AP support team to ensure timely payment of invoices.
Prepare K12 partner director contribution invoice calculations and coordinate with K12 partner finance teams to receive invoices.
Collaborate with academic and HR teams to process payments to program supervisors, edTPA advisors, and other similar roles.
Manage student billing in the student information system, including setting up tuition schedules, invoicing students each term, processing tuition credits, creating installment payment plans, and adjusting tuition due dates as needed.
Manage student ACH information in Alder’s bank account and process ACH payments for credit balance refunds.
Serve as a resource to students and to staff for any student billing related questions.
Review past due accounts and collaborate with the student services team to address balances owed.
Monitor Alder’s bank accounts for the receipt of financial aid funds, and process when received.
Oversee the Financial Aid Tracker, updating daily to ensure the student services team has the latest financial aid information.
Perform the monthly financial aid data check to ensure accuracy of all financial aid records.
Update financial aid resources, including the webpage, financial aid forms, the financial aid guidebook, and related policies, annually.
Demonstrate knowledge of and supports Alder’s mission, vision, core values, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
Participate in Alder-wide events, such as Alder-wide meetings, retreats, and special events such as graduation.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Required

Advanced experience and proficiency with financial modeling and spreadsheet software (Excel/Google Sheets)

B.A. Degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or a related field
At least three years of work experience in financial planning and analysis, including experience analyzing, reporting, and interpreting data, project management, handling multiple tasks, and prioritizing appropriately

Preferred

Experience in K-12 or higher education, teaching, school leadership, and/or serving high-needs students preferred
Master’s Degree in related field a plus but not required
