Responsibilities
Where applicable, consolidate the existing SAS programs by merging multiple programs that generate the same report into a single, streamlined program.
Restructure SAS code in the current SAS programs into a logical flow, including adding comments to document the program logic.
Remove redundancies where applicable such as consolidating renamed tables, eliminating commented out legacy code, and applying macros.
Improve the data extraction process from the data warehouse to create faster run times.
Take redundant code that is used across multiple SAS programs and establish separate purpose-specific SAS programs.
Create best practices for inserting comments in the code, including adding dates for code modifications.
Outside of the SAS program, capture and document the logic and business rules that generate the data and any historical context that can be gathered from code comments.
Produce performance metrics as the files are developed.
Update SAS programs to create summary statistic reports in addition to the fixed-width text file data submitted to THECB.
Offer recommendations to improve reporting efficiency.
Provide training and documentation for revised SAS programs.
Prepare an estimation of the completion time for each SAS program.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, self-directed, and flexible.

Required
High school graduate or equivalent.
Bachelor's degree required.
Preferred
Two years of full-time experience writing, revising, and troubleshooting Base SAS programs.
Experience using MS Office 365 products.
Previous experience as an SAS consultant is preferred.
Previous higher education experience is a plus but not required.
Base SAS certification preferred.
