Responsibilities
Translate and/or transcreate texts from English to Spanish maintaining register and tone, paying close attention to grammar, syntax, and fluency.
Copyedit curricular items, marketing and branding materials, and student-facing materials ensuring content alignment and parity between the Spanish and English versions.
Collaborate and work flexibly with writers, designers, and other copy editors to update and enhance products to align with in-house standards and meet deadlines.
Identify inconsistencies in language or format across materials and assist in correcting those issues.
Confirm the accuracy of direct quotations and details in material/resource references.
Assist in the proofing of all materials created for printing.
Pitch in with the rest of the team on needs as they arise, including writing, mild layout work, etc.

Required
2+ years of experience translating educational materials from English to Spanish
Formal training or experience in copyediting materials in English and Spanish
Native proficiency of the Spanish language, with exceptional command of its nuanced rules in spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and a comprehensive knowledge of vocabulary and idioms, colloquialisms, dialectal variations, and pertinent cultural references
Near-native proficiency of the English language
Familiarity with APA and/or Chicago style
Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
Ability to work, both independently and collaboratively, on several projects simultaneously and to prioritize and switch between them as needed
Commitment to meeting the highest standards within tight deadlines
Periodic in person-collaboration with ARC team members and/or customers (may require travel and overnight stays)
High-speed internet access
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
Preferred
Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat: basic formatting (especially paragraph and character styles), page manipulations, etc.
Experience in print production and the pre-press process
