Responsibilities
Attend meetings. Actively engage in board meetings, prepared to contribute insights, expertise, and perspectives. Notify the board in advance of any planned absence.
Support Strategic Development : Participate in the development of long-range plans, as well as programmatic and organizational priorities.
Financial Support and Stewardship : Make a personal or corporate donation each fiscal year to ILCEO operations.
Provide Staff Support : Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and ILCEO staff, providing encouragement, guidance, and feedback.
Oversee Fiscal Health : Review and approve ILCEO’s annual budget, monitor financial statements, and ensure sustainable funding.
Maintain Program Oversight : Provide oversight to ILCEO activities and programs.
Ensure Effective Leadership : Participate in the evaluation of the Executive Director, ensuring that leadership aligns with ILCEO’s vision and objectives.
Champion ILCEO’s Mission : Act as an ILCEO ambassador within the community, building awareness and support for EO’s benefits.
Uphold Professional Standards : Maintain integrity, professionalism, and courtesy in all interactions, reflecting positively on ILCEO’s reputation.
Comply with Policies : Adhere to ILCEO’s financial policies and other governance guidelines.

Required
At least one board member is an executive of an Illinois-based company with an established EO structure, bringing firsthand experience in employee ownership.
Engage actively in quarterly meetings, planning sessions, and program activities that further ILCEO’s goals.
Support ILCEO’s operational expenses through annual, personally meaningful financial gifts.
Contribute your professional strengths to help ILCEO grow and succeed, drawing on industry knowledge, leadership skills, and network connections.
Introduce ILCEO to corporate and community leaders who support our mission, building partnerships that expand our impact.
Identify potential supporters within your personal and professional circles, leveraging your influence to assist with corporate giving, grants, and fundraising appeals.
Connect ILCEO with valuable resources, such as advocacy groups, industry alliances, and service organizations, that can bolster our work.
Partner with ILCEO staff in cultivating relationships with donors, corporations, and other key stakeholders to deepen support for our mission.
Act as an ambassador, sharing ILCEO’s mission and achievements through public speaking, community events, and written communications.
