Responsibilities
Serve as a Boundary Protection Team Operator for the 26 Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) at Maxwell Air force Base-Gunter Annex, Alabama.
Oversee intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, boundary protection, and vulnerability assessment operations to defend the Air Force Network (AFNet).
Identify unknown or unauthorized sources attempting to access the AFNet and notify appropriate AF agencies when such attempts occur.
Monitor, operate, and maintain intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, load balancers, and web proxies to protect AFNet resources from internal and external threats.
Manage all network security devices across the WAN, including functions for firewall, proxies, load balancers, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and malicious code response.
Assist on-site LAN engineers with troubleshooting support of network equipment and installation of new hardware.
Perform minor and major operating system upgrades on all network security devices.
Work with technical support teams to resolve network traffic concerns.
Utilize monitoring tools and log collectors for in-depth analysis on traffic anomalies and issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve network issues for customers via trouble tickets, change requests, and phone calls in direct support with base-level, NOSC-level, and DISA counterparts.
Receive inbound calls from enterprise customers and collaborate with external NOCs to troubleshoot and resolve policy configuration issues.
Experience configuring and managing IDS, Firewalls, and other network security platforms.
Perform daily health checks to acknowledge system-level faults and begin the resolution process.
Utilize monitoring tools and log collectors to conduct initial analysis on network traffic using tools like Splunk, Schnozz, ELK, InfoVista, and NIKSUN.

Required
Position minimum requirements: 5+ years
Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) or CCNA (Security)
Position requires IAT level II or higher; CompTIA Security+ or better security certification
Must be willing to work Swing/Mid shift
Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a secret government security clearance
