Responsibilities

Sets the vision for the monthly close process to happen timely, mitigate situations when factors come up to stall or delay, and ensures a monthly close deliverable is achieved.
Follows through and takes ownership of correspondence with clients, staff, and partners.
Commitment to actively train, develop, and mentor staff and seniors.
Owns the on-boarding / off-boarding of clients in their care and assists in a project environment to help transition.
Commitment to month-end meetings with all clients. If not ready to lead them fully on a specific client, prepare the documents, be present in the meeting, and take notes and act on the points discussed to ensure they are achieved.
Understanding of the internal control environment necessary on a client and advise where weaknesses or strengths are present.
Function as a liaison, leading a client through a financial statement audit to ensure clients are 'audit ready' with their year-end close and analysis of key account balances.
Help solidify clients’ visions through budget preparation. Monitor budget versus actual and have active discussions with clients’ regarding variances.
Research current rules, regulations and interpretations, identify relevant information, and form conclusions.

Required

8+ years of general accounting experience.
3+ years of experience training and supervising staff.
Experience working in an audit department of a CPA firm.
BA/BS degree in accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
Licensed and currently active CPA.
Capable of working in a demanding, deadline-driven environment either independently or within a team dynamic while effectively managing unexpected issues and/or questions in a professional manner.
Strong excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP’s, Sumifs, etc.).
Experience with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Sage Intacct, and/or other accounting packages.
Able to research technical accounting guidance into clear, thoughtful, and deliverable action.
Client-centric approach to all matters.

Preferred

Master’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
Ability to travel to client locations.
Experience working with privately held clients.
