Responsibilities
Cassandra Cluster Management
Install, configure, and maintain Cassandra clusters in development, testing, and production environments.
Implement and manage Cassandra replication strategies for high availability and disaster recovery.
Upgrade, patch, and monitor Cassandra nodes to ensure stability and performance.
Database Monitoring and Optimization
Kubernetes Management: Include responsibilities related to deploying and managing Cassandra on Kubernetes using tools like K8ssandra or cass-operator.
Monitor database performance, availability, and security using tools like DataStax OpsCenter, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
Optimize query performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform tuning to enhance efficiency and reduce latency.
Conduct root cause analysis of performance issues and implement proactive measures.
Backup and Recovery Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies for Cassandra databases.
Perform regular backups, restore data as required, and ensure data integrity and consistency.
Capacity Planning and Scalability Forecast and manage storage capacity and database scaling based on growth and application needs.
Collaborate with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure appropriate resources are allocated for Cassandra.
Security and Compliance Implement database security, access controls, and encryption standards in compliance with organizational policies.
Manage user roles and permissions, ensuring data access aligns with security policies.
Documentation and Support Document processes, database configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
Provide support to application developers, troubleshoot complex issues, and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
