Responsibilities

Performing applied computational analyses using commercial and in-house CFD software to simulate the aerodynamic and aerothermal environments for flight vehicles and wind tunnel facilities.
Developing digital twin models for high Mach and hypersonic flight vehicles and wind tunnel facilities.
Generating complex numerical grids to handle large-scale problems involving detailed models of aerospace systems.
Comparing predictions to flight test data and literature.
Documenting results in technical reports and published papers, presenting findings, and delivering expert opinions in technical interchange meetings.
Interacting with project managers, sponsors, contractors, and other Air Force staff in order to establish and maintain relationships and to provide critical contributions.

Required

PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or MS with 2-4 years of equivalent work experience
Sound knowledge of CFD and available CFD codes such as Ansys, Kestrel, and US3D
Experience in structured and unstructured grid generation and flow solvers using commercial and in-house codes
Knowledge and experience with software management, grid engines, queueing systems, and parallel processing
Familiarity with Linux clusters and scripting in Linux environments
Knowledge in discretization and solution algorithms for unstructured-grid CFD
Programming skills in MATLAB, modern Fortran, and/or C++
Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Able to obtain a government security clearance and must meet the requirements for access to classified information
Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship

Preferred

Experience working in a digital twin environment
Familiarity using High-Performance Computing (HPC) centers
Comfortable working cooperatively with university graduates and PhD students
