Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Team, providing insights on financial planning, organizational growth, and resource allocation
Anticipate and manage trends that could impact Saga’s financial health and sustainability
Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies to align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals
Oversee investment strategies and manage financial assets to maximize returns within the organization’s risk tolerance and policy guidelines
Strong command of the budget, longitudinally as well as current
Lead the development and management of the annual budget ensuring alignment with organizational goals and resource requirements
Provide ongoing financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support strategic decision-making and operational performance
Identify opportunities for financial optimization and support tough decisions regarding resource allocation and program expansion
Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for the Leadership Team and Board of Directors
Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the finance and accounting team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards
Lead all aspects of financial risk management, including internal controls, insurance, and compliance audits
Develop, update, and implement internal control systems, ensuring compliance and adherence to organizational policies and standards
Lead and coordinate the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure transparency and accuracy
Provide strategic oversight for grant and award financial planning, ensuring accurate budget allocation, monitoring, and timely closeout processes
Serve as a strategic advisor for cross-functional teams to assess the impact of incoming and outgoing funds on overall organizational financial health
Oversee the strategic onboarding and offboarding of grants, federal awards, and other sources of funding to ensure alignment with the organization’s financial goals and compliance requirements
Actively engage the Board of Directors Finance committee, providing financial insights and strategic guidance to drive impactful decision-making
Work closely with leaders and department heads to support strategic projects, resource allocation, and program financials
Partner with all departments to ensure financial strategies are effectively executed across the organization
Provide leadership and direction to the finance and accounting team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth
Set clear goals and expectations for the finance team, ensuring alignment with Saga’s strategic objectives and operational needs
Foster a culture of transparency, integrity, and excellence in financial management and reporting
Oversee the organization’s comprehensive risk management strategy, including general liability insurance, directors and officers insurance, and any other organizational coverage to mitigate exposure
Regularly review and update risk management policies, procedures, and insurance coverage to ensure they meet the needs of the organization and evolving regulatory requirements
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to assess potential risks, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure a strong risk management culture across the organization

Required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
At least seven years of senior-level finance and accounting experience, preferably in national non-profit organizations with annual revenues of $25-50 million
Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic financial initiatives within complex organizations
In-depth knowledge of GAAP, federal fund management, and audit compliance requirements
Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams
Preferred
