Responsibilities
Conduct independent hydraulic and/or hydrologic engineering and planning analysis investigations for assigned projects (internationally and nationally).
Serve as technical reviewer of in-house, contracted, and outside agency hydraulic and hydrologic engineering products.
Evaluate the value and applicability of new or improved technology, strategies, trends, and/or applications used to support water resource programs.
Develop and/or collaborate in the formulation of new standards, applications, concepts, or change existing theories based on program findings.
Perform project management duties such as preparing scopes of work and monitors contract, IPAs, or other work agreements.
Serve as a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) on assigned contract actions and reviews in-progress and final contractor reports for approval.
Develop presentations and represent organizational leadership at national and/or international meetings and workshops to discuss, learn, and/or share information related to complex water resources challenges.

Required
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering from a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
Differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials; (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics.
Professional registration or licensure - Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences.
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, with at least 1 year of professional engineering experience.
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Project specific hydraulic and/or hydrologic modeling experience for flood risk management, navigation, ecosystem restoration and/or water management; 2) perform special studies with complex engineering problems; 3) develop new or improve existing methods for water resource development; 4) subject matter expert in hydraulic or hydrologic engineering; 5) use problem solving and strategic thinking for water resources projects; 6) serve as a project manager and/or Contracting Officer Representative; 7) present engineering information and write technical reports.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
