Responsibilities
Performing engineering services functions to reduce exposure of property and persons to natural hazards through review and implementation of specialized programs and studies, as well as dissemination of technical assistance and information.
Working with HQ and other Regional representatives to perform technical review of FEMA building science related publications.
Assisting fellow Mitigation staff with technical questions relating to structural components, safe room design, or other technical concerns.
Delivering messaging to Region 6 external stakeholders about best practices in wind, flood, or fire-resistant design innovations.

Required
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
Researching and developing requirements in the areas of flood, wind-resistant or other hazard design and construction practices and hazard risk assessment
Acting as a regional technical authoritative resource in the specialized fields of building science which may include: floodplain construction standards and codes, site planning techniques and hazard mitigation, and benefit-cost analysis reviews
Providing technical information to leadership and external stakeholders
U.S. citizenship
Successful background investigation
Selective Service registration required
Ability to obtain and maintain a Government credit card
