Responsibilities

Research and develop requirements in the areas of flood, wind-resistant or other hazard design and construction practices and hazard risk assessment.
Act as a regional technical authoritative resource in the specialized fields of building science including floodplain construction standards and codes, site planning techniques, hazard mitigation, and benefit-cost analysis reviews.
Provide technical information to leadership and external stakeholders.

Must be a U.S. citizen
Must successfully pass a background investigation
Selective Service registration required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering
Degree program must lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET
Degree program must include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the seven areas of engineering science or physics
OR Combination of Education and Experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering
OR Combination of Education and Experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
OR Combination of Education and Experience: Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
OR Combination of Education and Experience: Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, or any other written test required for professional registration
OR Combination of Education and Experience: Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences
OR Combination of Education and Experience: Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field
Ability to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time
