Responsibilities
Ensure Department services are provided with the highest level of customer service and ethical standards.
Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, and reports for civil engineering projects.
Check hydraulics, structure, mechanics, and strength of materials, and surveying calculations.
Review legal descriptions, easements, and contract documents for completeness and accuracy.
Prepare environmental assessment reports and project impact plans.
Check subdivision maps, improvement plans, and grading plans.
Prepare documents for street vacations, encroachment permits, and assessment districts.
Prepare rate studies and maintain records of the sanitary sewer system.
Drive to make field inspections of construction projects.
Respond to customer inquiries regarding building regulations.
Lead and supervise technicians and engineers on projects.
Review proposed projects, prepare plans, and evaluate employee job performance.
Prepare packages for City Council on proposed projects.
Ensure duties are performed in a safe efficient manner.

Required
Two years of professional civil engineering experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or certificate as an Engineer-in-Training from the State of California.
Valid Class C California driver's license.
Experience in project management of Capital Improvement Projects involving improvements to public utilities or water infrastructures.
Experience utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) / Hydraulic Modeling.
Experience utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D for design and preparation of plans for public utilities or water infrastructure improvements.
Experience utilizing Microsoft Excel software to perform data analysis or budget and expense tracking.
Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA).
Water Distribution Operator Grade 2 (D2) Certificate.
Building codes, structural safety practices and procedures.
Computer and computer-aided design and drafting.
Environmental issues associated with division projects.
Hydraulics, structural, mechanics, and strength of materials.
Surveying techniques.
Provide exceptional customer service to those using Glendale Water & Power services.
Draw preliminary sketches and drawings.
Interact with other divisions or section employees to obtain information necessary for design and project specifications.
Interact with the public providing proper customer service.
Model and practice the highest standards of ethical conduct.
