Responsibilities

Conduct Job Evaluations and Classification: Review, analyze, and evaluate positions to determine appropriate classification, title, and grade
Conduct on-site or telephone audits to gather comprehensive job information and perform in-depth salary analysis to ensure equitable pay
Provide Consultative Services: Serve as a subject matter expert, offering consultative services to agencies on classification/compensation and general HR matters
Participate in Projects and Initiatives: Collaborate on projects related to classification reviews, job evaluations, and compensation analysis
Contribute to the development of pilot projects and agency-led initiatives
Actively participate in process improvement efforts, applying LEAN principles and identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and customer satisfaction
Cross-train in HR Functions: As part of the Shared Services Team, receive cross-training in various HR functions to provide support as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the HR team and department

Required

Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, and techniques of position classification under the State Classification Plan
Knowledge of concepts and principles of the State Personnel System Compensation Guidelines
Knowledge of state government organization
Knowledge of objectives of major and medium/small State organizations and their relationships
Knowledge of personnel rules and Fair Labor Standards Act
Knowledge of HR management principles and practices
Knowledge of Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
Skills in effective written communication to produce clear and concise reports
Skills in excellent oral communication to present and defend recommendations
Skills in research and analysis to compile information from various sources
Skills in organizing facts and drawing logical conclusions
Skills in basic math and algebra to evaluate compensation data
Ability to understand, explain, and apply State and Federal personnel laws, and State and agency rules
Ability to respond to personnel inquiries with accuracy and diplomacy
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to implement AMS/LEAN initiatives
Ability to travel to agencies as needed
Valid Arizona Driver License
Background and reference check, including state and federal criminal records fingerprint check; Fingerprint Clearance Card after hire
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)

Preferred

A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred
At least 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in classification/compensation and general HR areas is highly desirable
Professional certification such as HRCI or SHRM (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus
