Responsibilities

Supervises and directs a team of professionals and team leads, including making work assignments, providing training and corrective instruction, and evaluating job performance.
Facilitates the machining of parts required for finished goods in the CNC department, in reaction to orders placed in the system by the planning team.
Maintains frequent communication with Director of Operations, receiving and reviewing the daily work schedule and discussing and resolving problems.
Communicates regularly with the Production Planning team and Machine Maintenance techs advising of machine breakdowns, recurring machine or production problems, quality issues, part shortages, or any other situation that may slow down or stop production.
Works with other Supervisors/Managers and Quality Manager to evaluate and resolve part shortages or quality issues associated with the machining on a timely basis.
Monitors and ensures proper operation of various machines. Directs routine maintenance and minor adjustments on CNC machines as needed.
Leads personnel action, including discipline and termination. Completes employee reviews within 30 days of due date. Makes sure that employee training records are entered in the learning management system and are up to date.
Advises of outstanding employee performance, which may merit additional employee recognition.
Proactively offers suggestions for the improvement of a product, process or practice.
Serves as the Team Leader for all shifts ensuring proper carryover of production activities and requirements. Directs the Supervisors/Team Leads and all team members to ensure that day-to-day production needs are met.
Identifies resource needs, as well as, ensures that the production schedule is met.
Ensures a work environment exists for employees that provide effective communication between all shift team members in order to effectively communicate concerns regarding production.
Identifies and communicates information to correct product quality and defect prevention, product disposition, and rework and/or repair activity.
Communicates and assists in the resolution of part shortages or the expedition of product.
Evaluates, Monitors, and reacts to personnel allocation in the plant including the use of overtime in conjunction with production needs.
Monitors day to day staffing assignments based on Production needs.
Responsible for understanding and providing input to capacity planning as customer's production demands fluctuates.
Determines and communicates the direction relative to housekeeping and safety practices.
Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
Serves as a role model to all plant personnel and is recognized as a Leader within the company, by driving a positive culture. Identifies and monitors high performing individuals to help personal career development that aligns with company needs.
Communicates daily/weekly/monthly goals with his/her team.
Participates and leads lean principles on a daily basis.
Implements and sustains 5S and 5Y problem solving.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Required

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related fields Or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience required leading a team of skilled professionals which includes motivating, evaluating, training and providing corrective action.
Ability to serve as an advocate for team members, resolve conflicts and help navigate daily issues regarding work responsibilities as necessary.
Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Thorough knowledge of and ability to make practical application of OSHA and company safety precautions and procedures.
Ability to work with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, and work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure.
Strong ability in problem solving, follow-up and project management skills.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with other Department personnel, including; being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
Ability to input, access and retrieve information from the Company’s computer systems.
Ability to regularly work extended hours.

Preferred

Experience in a machine shop or industrial production environment preferred.
