Responsibilities
Work with SSDN team members and subject matter experts to curate communications content.
Write, edit and disseminate strong communications materials, including but not limited to press releases, website content, op-eds, talking points and scripts.
Create and implement a strategic communications plan for the organization.
Maintain working, timely knowledge of national and regional news and reflect that knowledge on the various platforms within the appropriate time and place.
Pitch SSDN's key announcements to relevant national and regional newsrooms.
Maintain and update media lists.
Support the growth of SSDN's brand and assist staff in communicating that brand.
Coordinate and produce videos and podcasts to educate target audiences.
Support the SSDN team in developing, implementing, maintaining, and then growing an integrated digital media plan for SSDN, including newsletter, social media, graphics, and website.
Manage content for and implement SSDN's Green Minds Podcast with member input and hosting.
Draft and edit educational and interactive copy for SSDN's email list, social media accounts, and presentations.
Share relevant content with SSDN's partners and work with communications staff in other organizations to appropriately uplift their content and share SSDN content.
Serve as the primary point of contact for SSDN's web developers.
Work with local government communications departments and teams to develop and share content about SSDN's members.

Required
Bachelor's Degree
3+ years of relevant experience.
Knowledgeable and organized with a proactive attitude.
Flexible and creative self-starter.
Entrepreneurial spirit with a high degree of initiative and motivation.
Service-oriented.
Resourceful, independent thinker, self-sufficient and self-motivated.
Attention to detail and accuracy of information.
Time Management – Ability to manage multiple priorities with shifting agendas.
Analytical – Experience using software to identify and analyze quality indicators and data, measure variables and highlight trends.
Technology – Ability to navigate a variety of media platforms.
Communication – Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Relationship Building – Ability to work independently and within a team.
Strong coordination/collaboration skills.
Preferred
1-3 years of non-profit experience is ideal.
Strong interest and/or experience in local government or the field of sustainability.
