Responsibilities

Perform research utilizing data within the various CUSTOMER systems to identify optical dark fiber paths and high-speed circuits segmented by the various network types in service within the corporation. Match these services and circuits with existing or missing map files.
Assist CUSTOMER personnel with the collection of KMZ circuit mapping information from the various carriers on a global basis.
Annotate files with the correct naming conventions and load them into the analysis platform (ARC Gis Geospatial tool) for further analysis.
Work with CUSTOMER engineering personnel to collect and map logical connections to the physical paths when and where possible.
Work a detailed plan to achieve success based on the client's requirements, utilizing the CUSTOMER provided ARC Gis system.
Follow the necessary data structure of the files to ensure that the maximum amount of data points can be parsed and compared.
Compare circuit routes over the many fiber paths and identify areas where circuit paths are on the same path or converge across the globe. Example, two circuits from different carriers providing connectivity between two CUSTOMER locations riding the same fiber cable or are within the same conduits/sheaths, manholes, etc.
Document and classify these occurrences by circuit ID’s, carriers, and network types (defined by CUSTOMER).
Work with the appropriate network engineering resources to explain the identified diversity anomalies and determine if the path convergence meets design objectives. Example, alternate circuits on different paths have enough capacity to carry data traffic in the event of a converged failure.
Document engineering acceptance or recommendations to procure new services that provides necessary service separation.
Coordinate and work with the internal Telecom team to prepare requests for proposals to send to carriers for replacement circuits that specify the requirements and routes to avoid for the new service.
Assist in the examination of the carrier responses by loading the carrier provided KMZ map files into the ARC Gis tool to ensure that the proposed routes don’t conflict with any other major connections.
Recommend the best solution and assist in the preparation of any circuit ordering details for execution by Telecom personnel.
Document and ensure appropriate logs are completed showing accepted route and the analysis results that detail why the circuit was selected.
Engage with a long-term plan to revisit each of the critical paths once a year to ensure that diversity compliance is maintained.
Enable a continual inspection cycle so that 1/12 of the inventory will be accomplished each month so that all circuits are re-visited at least once per year.
Create process to validate that carriers have not moved paths and document.
Ensure new circuits that have been ordered and delivered have the necessary KMZ files and that analysis has been performed to ensure diversity considerations have been met.
Document discrepancies and perform mitigation activities.
Work with internal audit teams to report findings.
Assist with the defined data structure requirements enabling accurate analysis of KMZ Map Files
Standardized documentation for each circuit analyzed detailing the findings and recommendations made for mitigation.
Long term audit strategy with standardized documentation that will comply with CUSTOMER auditing requirements.
Participation with the diversity path audit schedule allowing for the incorporation (audit) of new circuits as they are introduced into the inventory.
