Responsibilities
Supervise and manage the Finance team, establishing performance and departmental goals.
Make hiring and personnel decisions, conduct formal annual performance evaluations, provide mentoring and coaching, manage conflicts, and address all other issues related to team leadership and supervision.
Provide supervision within a union environment, adhering to the Collective Bargaining Agreement in all matters related to the supervision of hourly employees.
Establish clear lines of communication with direct reports and maintain effective working relationships to support individual and team success.
Create and conduct training for Finance staff and other departments on processes impacted by ctcLink.
Serve as a resource for staff, students, and administrators to resolve finance-related issues.
Promote the professional growth of Finance team members by setting individual and team development goals, encouraging participation in campus events and workshops, and supporting professional development funds and other available resources.
Leads all activities of the Finance area, including overseeing the delivery, improvement, and communication of services and processes and the development and administration of policies, procedures, programs, goals, and objectives.
Conducts business process analysis of all finance-related processes, either independently or in collaboration with other areas as appropriate
Solves complex problems that impact multiple stakeholders in collaboration with those stakeholders
Establishes and monitors controls as appropriate to ensure that standards execute College finance processes and that information is accurate and available in a timely manner
Prepares and provides quarterly updates and projections of Services & Activities Fees and Student Technology Fees to the Dean for Student Success and Director of Student Life
Manage major finance projects such as the implementation of new systems (e.g., ctcLink) and the annual audit
Facilitates, leads, and participates in meetings and committees; represents the department and area interests at campus meetings and conferences; serves as a liaison between departments, external organizations, the public, and other agencies
Ensure that procedure manuals are updated, and new processes are developed promptly to facilitate training and operations
Develops and manages area operating budget, reviews and approves expenditure for the area as well and coordinates the development of the College¿s annual budget
Prepares budget spreadsheets and analysis, maintains the integrity of the budget data as it changes
Review monthly journal entries and supporting documentation to ensure that all are completed accurately
Oversee the year-end closing process, including SMART reconciliations, entries, and disclosures
Prepares for state and federal audits including but not limited to workbook preparation, documentation of accounts, and production of audited financial statements, notes, and disclosures; provides information and perspective as needed to auditors
Prepares bank reconciliation
Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to stay current in the field
Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level as assigned

Required
Bachelor Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field AND three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in Finance, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
One (1) year of experience in fund accounting.
One (1) year of experience projecting and maintaining department budgets.
Two (2) years of experience at a supervisory level within a professional accounting, finance, or business management environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Demonstrated commitment to and interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to support a multicultural workplace and educational environment.
Preferred
Master’s Degree in finance, business, business administration or related field.
Experience working in a Finance office within higher education, preferably within the Washington Community and Technical Colleges (CTC).
Experience working and supervising within a Union environment.
Experience using PeopleSoft in a Finance Office.
Knowledge and demonstrated use of Governmental Accounting and Fund Reporting (GAAFR) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
